The Ötzi Museum in Bozen

South Tyrolean Archaeology Museum– Ötzi- Museum Bozen

In 1991 the mummified corpse of a man from the Bronze Age was found on the Tisenjoch in 3200 metres height under thrilling circumstances. With an age of 5100 years it caused excitement among scientists, as it offered countless possibilities to reconstruct life in the early Bronze Age, such as the clothes that were worn, transport routes, living conditions and working techniques. Even the circumstances of Ötzis personal life and death have been uncovered. Ötzi himself is the centre piece of the museum, grouped around him are interesting exhibitions. The extensive collections also include other archaeological findings which were excavated in South Tyrol.
